Celebrating Excellence : Highlights from Kiran International School’s Annual Sports Day

Annual Sports day – The day every student, parent, teacher and the entire school is so eagerly looking forward to with such excitement and exhilaration. Every nook and corner of our school campus resonated with the fervor of celebrating sportsmanship, dedication and discipline on 11th of January, 2025. Annual sports day is not just a one-day event but a year long preparation and practice of every student’s skills and capabilities.  We feel thrilled to share few snippets from the day and highlights on how it unfolded:

1. Esteemed Guests

It was truly an honour as Mr. Hanuman Vihari, a young and gritty Indian cricketer who represents the country enhanced our celebrations by being present as Chief Guest along with  Mr. Harshavardhan, IPS and Superintendent of Police, Telangana State and Mr. Pradeep Kumar, IPS, graced the event as the Guests of Honour as well.

The determination, courage and resilience inspiring Mr. Hanuman Vihari, the Captained the Border-Gavaskar trophy 2020-21 who ultimately lead Indian team’s victory, and the stupendously motivating Mr. Harshavardhan(IPS) and Mr. Pradeep Kumar(IPS) were  the ideal role-models for the students for the event.

2. Kicking off Sporting Festivities

• The atmosphere around the school premises charged up the moment the guests arrived and they were given a befitting Guard of Honor by the well-organized and disciplined students.
• Aided by the honourable management of KIS, the event was set-in motion by the lighting of the lamp by the guests. This was followed by beautiful and heartfelt rendition of Vandemataram by all participants.
• Flag-hoisting and Lighting of the Torch further accentuated the mood and officially commenced the event
  
  

3. Abundance of Talent

Students demonstrated impressive physical and mental agility, endurance, and balance at a young age, highlighting the impact of proper guidance and a supportive environment through activities like

• Students from classes 8- 10th began their showcase of talent with the March-past followed by the Oath taking and March-back.
• Next came the heart-warming ribbon and pom pom drills performance by the Nursery, PP1 and PP2 kids.
• Following this activity, Grade 1 and 2 kids put out an impressive and bubbly Ball drill and Hoop drill.
• Grade 3 and 4 students further boosted the audience delight with a colorful and eye-catching Parachute and Flag drill.  
• The finishing touch was given by the Grade 5 students with a passionate Kite drill
  
  

This was sheer coordination and intense practice at display which was an eye-feast for all spectators. Physical and mental agility, endurance and balance students can be acquired at such a young age if guided by the right teachers. The students’ enthusiastic and earnest display of skill left a smile on every viewers’ face.

4. Activities for Mind, Body and Soul

The wide range of activities which the students exhibited on this day was no less than spectacular.

Yoga 

It is a well-known fact, about the benefits of Yoga, no-matter what age, and this was evident with the wonderful and spiritual display of yoga by the students.

Zumba 

Grade 6 students created a positive and lively atmosphere with their Zumba activity which was fun for both participants and viewers simultaneously.

Lezim

It was a refreshing sight to witness grade 7 students indulge in Lezim drill which otherwise is only restricted to official purposes.

Taekwondo

Students across from all classes and ages displayed spectacular taekwondo performances which left many in awe.

5. Athletics and Sports

Staying true to the nomenclature of the event, there were various 100 metres, 200 metres and relay races for various groups, which the students outpoured their hearts and sweat into.

It was quite evident that there was fun in their participation and at the same time there was a healthy competitive spirit to perform.

The sporting nature, team spirit and unity demonstrated in the Olympic ring by senior students was commendable.

The grit and determination which was showcased by all the participants was a reflection of values and teaching inculcated by their parents and teachers.

One of the final events of the day was the tremendous and spell-binding skating display which exhilarated every person who was on the campus. The physical and mental agility they possessed is unbelievable.

6. Recognition and Rewards

There was enough to cheer every student, parent and teacher as the winners were rewarded and the true efforts put by others were recognized, not leaving them disappointed rather encouraging them to remember the joys of mere participation.

What was truly inspiring among the students and parents was the unequivocal celebration of the overall champion when it was announced.

The collective efforts and contributions of the teachers were honoured to the cheerful joys of their students.

7. A Truly Memorable Event

There were many visible and satisfied signs and faces in the audience and students, nevertheless, they were hopefully wishing that the event extended. 

As the event came to the climactic end, the Chief Guest was asked to speak a few words on his experience, inspiration students can draw and values they should follow.

Students were appreciated for the spectacular efforts and the winners were congratulated. He appreciated the school management for providing word-class facilities to students to learn, grow and excel not just in studies but in extracurricular activities, also he encouraged students to take up more extracurricular activities and stressed the importance of them in turning the students into complete and holistic human beings along with their classroom studies.

Later, an official vote of thanks was given by the school. The Annual Sports Day was concluded the with lowering of the flag and National Anthem.
